Let's get Dubbed Up

Looking through some of the old posts I realized that I haven't been posting much dub and dubstep at all, this needs to change, especially given some of the stuff I have discovered recently.

Liquid Stranger - We Meet At Last

Opiuo - The Freaky Bean

VibeSquad - Snackbaskets

Just discovered all of these three - Liquid Stranger is somewhere between ambient, dub and dubstep, while both Opiuo and VibeSquad are relatively unknown but upcoming American acts whose sound falls between dubstep and hip hop, or what the blogosphere is calling glitch hop. I'm normally not too inclined to tags like that but what I've heard so far is pretty bumping. But of course the original land of dubstep/grime/bassline is still the UK, and below are some tunes from there that I've been listening to lately and are absolutely and completely worth your while if you are a fan of the general genre. As with most dubstep, these tracks are best heard on good headphones or speakers, mainly because most laptop speakers cannot do justice to the bass, and dubstep without bass is like eyeballs without pupils.

Joker - Purple City

Cluekid - Frogs on Acid

Plastician - Japan

Joy Orbison - Hyph Mngo

Enjoy and more soon, peace.

Solar Fields

The human mind is the most powerful thing in existence, and the videos I have embedded and linked to below are testament to that times infinity. I could go on for hours and hours about how wonderful Solar Fields' music is, but nothing I say could allow you to experience the beauty and essence that his music (and these videos) capture.

Solar Fields - Insum

Solar Fields - Breeze

Really amazing stuff, everything that music can and should be, in my eyes at least. Below are some more great ambient and chillout tunes I have found recently, check them out. A couple of them have awesome videos as well -

AES Dana - Natti Natti (Androcell Rmx)

Cell - Spinning Whale

Bluetech - Elementary Particles

Sync24 - DOT

Hol Baumann - Radio Bombay

There are a lot of other great ambient beats that I didn't post, most of the stuff by all of these artists is worth checking out.

The only thing that makes me sad is the relative anonymity that these guys face compared to the "music" that pop culture today propagates. I wonder how different the world would be if Solar Fields or Aes Dana or Androcell were as popular as Kanye West and Lady Gaga. Food for thought...

Peace.

A Set I uploaded

Hey everyone. So I entered this DJing contest on a website called Let's Mix. It's a 50 minute set with the kind of music that I usually post up here, pretty much standard good minimal and house.

The objective for me is to get more than 300 votes and a good rating by the end of January, and if that's achieved I could make it to the next round etc. etc.

Anyway it would be much appreciated if you listen to the mix and vote.
